The Adventurer's Essential Headcovering
I have owned my Kodiak hat for the past three years now and it's seen it all - The Kodiak is a hat that you can take anywhere to do anything. My Kodiak has been to the Mojave desert in the summer and the hat was a tremendous boon in keeping the sun off, with the ventilation eyelets being a handy feature to vent that heat. It's seen blizzards in the Rocky mountains and shrugged off snow like it wasn't even there. It's seen long rides on horseback and longer hikes on foot. When I travelled abroad, it came with me to the jungles of Southeast Asia, and it took the humidity and perspiration like a champ, the sweat band absorbing much of the heat. It even became a pirate hat for a Halloween costume one year with it's adjustable brim!
After all that, it looked a bit battered and beaten then I put on a little oilskin care product and it was right back to being the same shade of black. It's durable, rugged, and well-equipped to handle any elements.
I will admit that the hat's brim wire can sometimes be a little more fragile than would be liked, as it is easily rolled and that can require some effort to put right. Taking that and the aforementioned trips into account, it balances out to be a very positive experience with the Kodiak! If you are going to be in the outdoors at all, I would strongly recommend buying and using the Kodiak as it will remain my go-to hat for any adventure.
