The best stories rarely start with a perfect plan. In early 2023, Georgia packed a U-Haul, pointed it toward Wyoming, and decided to figure it out as she went.
She spent most of her life in Northern California , moving up and down the coast, chasing good snow in Tahoe, and thinking she'd always stay close to home. She wasn’t raised outdoorsy. Camping trips, rugged adventures, and trail rides weren’t part of her childhood. It was skiing that opened the door to a passion for something more. And a visit to Jackson, Wyoming that flung it wide open.
Finding Her Place:
In early 2023, Georgia made the trip to Jackson to visit a friend. Within two days, she felt something shift. There was a grit to the town and an honesty to its people that felt rare. California had started to feel too comfortable, too predictable. She craved challenge, newness, and a life that made her feel alive.
So, she packed a U-Haul, loaded up her essentials, and drove to Wyoming with her dad. No concrete plan. No guarantees. Just a gut feeling that this was her place.
And it was.
Trading More for Meaning:
Since the move, Georgia’s world has simplified, and in the best way. She’s learned that less really can be more. Ditching many things that she brought in that U-haul, she embraces the simplicity in the little things.
Life out here isn’t about what you have, it’s about what you do. Her days are a blend of content creation, odd jobs around town, mountain hikes, and late-night pasture rides. When asked what a day in her life looks like today, she said "
"I enjoy ending my day with a beer in hand, riding bareback on a trailside during sunset. My friends have began lovingly calling it Georgia's booze cruise."
It’s the kind of quiet happiness that doesn’t need to be announced.
Learning by Doing:
Horse ownership was a dream Georgia chased without having it all figured out. And that’s what makes it special. She believes too many people wait until they “know enough” or “have it all lined up” before starting something new.
Her advice? Start before you’re ready. You’ll learn along the way. Ask the dumb questions. Surround yourself with people who’ll show you the ropes. And understand that messing up is part of the process.
"It’s not easy, and it’s definitely not cheap, living in Jackson comes with its own set of challenges."
But Georgia is proof that if you're dreaming of a life, sometimes you have to work hard and hustle to get where you want to be. You’ll find a way to make it work.
Outback in the Everyday:
Of all the things she’s collected in her move West, the one piece that’s always within reach is her Adelaide Jacket. Tough enough for trail rides, timeless enough for town. It’s become her go-to for days when she doesn’t know where she’ll end up, and doesn’t need to.
One of her favorite memories happened two years ago, borrowing a friend’s Duster for a Thanksgiving ride, loping through the snow with the yearlings while a storm blew in. Cold winds, and pelting snow, she remembers this as a fond moment because even though the elements were against them, she had a smile on her face. She was warm and comfortable in her Duster Jacket.
