Amazing coat
February 20, 2017
I bought my long coat when I was a 'big ol' boy', so it's 5x. I likely need large now, and intend to buy one, but I have this coat and still wear it along with my second, smaller, thigh length version. It laughs at wind, rain, snow... You don't feel it at 5 degrees with a wind. I love my duster. David

The Wild In Us approves!

First we (Trent & Mariah) need to disclose that yes, the Outback Trading Co. is a sponsor for our upcoming ride and mustang training. But that does not influence our opinions and thoughts about the products that we test from any of our sponsors. All reviews are truthful and honest.

With that said:
The first of the two Dusters (Trent's) arrived the other day and this morning we woke up to snow here in Bishop, Ca. Lots of snow! Perfect timing for me to get outside and test the new duster out on my morning training rides. What a difference it makes in bad weather!!! The heat that comes up from the horse and fills the inside of the jacket is incredible. There were a few times while ridding that I got too hot actually, which was a real treat given how bad the weather was this morning and how cold I usually get.

Sizing: According to their sizing chart I landed right in the middle of a Medium or Large. In the end I went for a Medium and Im very happy the fit. The duster has a lot of extra room in the arms and chest for base layering under the jacket and I think the Large would have been a little to big. It's also worth mentioning that I personally like a bit of a tighter fit. So, if you are the same, I would maybe think about going for the next size down if ordering online without trying it on in the store.

Saddle gusset:
The other thing that is worth mentioning is that the jacket not only keeps you dry, warm and out of the weather, it also keeps your saddle dry and out of the weather with the rear saddle gusset. The slim and cut down saddle I built for this long distance ride has a lot of exposed saddle tree that is covered by rawhide to keep the saddle under 20lbs, which also means I need to take extra care to keep the saddle out of the weather as the saddle is not completely covered by weather proofing leather that would add extra weight to the saddle. The way this duster fights over the saddle and with the rear saddle gusset (Not just a split up the back like other dusters I've used in the past!) it completely covers my legs, the saddle horn, and over the cantle cocooning myself and the saddle from the weather. Such a great feature!

The last thing I want to mention is that this jacket is fulling lined. So, if you are throwing on your duster without a long sleeve shirt on, you only feel the soft warm lining on your skin and not the tough oiled canvas which is a very nice and well thought out touch.

All of theses features and touches just go to show the craftsmanship and the thought that went into the development of this product.

We want to also give a major thank you to Outback Trading Co. for your support and sponsorship on our upcoming ride! We are so excited to have your products on our journey. And thank you for making such a great product!

excellent value.

My husband and I each bought a Low Rider Duster for trail riding and for a special wilderness trek. This is an amazing product. Very warm, comfortable and versatile. Can use it for comfortable sitting on the ground, under the sleeping bag for added comfort, and of course, riding and all the activities of rustic camping. I love it. After four years of use, it looks like new and only gest more comfortable with its age and mine.

Owned one of these for two years now, and it beats the snot out of my Army-Issued cold/wet weather gear. Shame I can't wear it in uniform, but I guess nothing can be perfect.

Good coat for the motorcycle
September 26, 2016
I bought this coat back in 1986 and it was fantastic. I still own it. It was great getting me through the rain while I rode a motorcycle in Rhode Island. Of course gauntlet gloves and a wind fairing helped too. I'm now looking for a short cut version, in black.

Excellent craftsmanship and versility, I use this for both regular rain gear, as well as when riding. 100% waterproof in even the nastiest of rain. It allows ease of movement when on horseback. Goan I have it, wish I had pick one up earlier. MJRogers, Ft. Worth Texas
